Pirates caught or still FREE?
We all have heard in the few past days about the Pirate Bay case , the verdict was so strict and judge sentenced each of the four developers of the site to be jailed for One year each and to be fined more than 3 million dollars.
Some might wonder why the court was so strict with these four while not including other parts which still having a part in the illegal distribution of copyrighted materials.
Others might agree with the verdict as all these four took part in a crime which can not be forgiven.
Pirates Bay is hosted in Thailand where Fredrik Neij is currently present (One of the judged four) , it is still working with no problems at all as PiratesBay.com wasn’t the one being judged in court but those who are developing it were.
Professor Roger Wallis , a well known figure in the world of technology today had a very surprising comment when he pointed that this trail might be the key to other trials that would involve even ISP companies and other parties which are taking part in the spread of copy righted materials.
He spoke in the favor of Pirate Bay in the trial and afterwords he received flowers form Pirate Bay supporters.
This will cause a flood of court cases. Against all the ISPs. Because if these guys assisted in copyright infringements, then the ISPs also did. This will have huge consequences. The entire development of broadband may be stalled.
Now if we come to discuss this issue with a normal internet user , we will understand that the greatest number of internet users are asking the PirateBay lawyers to appeal the verdict.
Through the past years , many record companies , major electronics giants had been exposed to illegal copy right assaults. But though many people feel that these companies are the ones responsible for such actions as they have marketed their products with high prices.
Demonstrations (outside Stockholm's district court's temporary offices at Tekniska nämndhuset) protesting the trial against The Pirate Bay during the first day of the trial.
The other side denies these claims stating that today’s technology users do not pay for what they get and like everything to be free of charge , some might agree to that too as a great sum of these products are available for reasonable prices.
Even if Pirate Bay is to be shut down in the future , many will stand up taking its place and thus a bigger solution that involves all sides is better to be taken in mind.
Personally , I think this issue is consuming much of the efforts of companies trying to develop software or market products like songs and albums and thus a considerable solution that involves the satisfaction of all sides is the best answer to this problem.
